The winner of this year's Man Booker Prize was announced yesterday. It is
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. It's a novel based on the life of Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII's chief minister from 1532 to 1540. Cromwell was a strong promoter of Henry's divorce from his first wife and the subsequent break with the Catholic church.
By all accounts, it's a real page-turner, but we can't tell you for sure, because
Wolf Hall will not be published in the US until October 13. Give us a call (612/822-4611) if you'd like a copy of the book when it arrives next week.--David E
